Artist's Statement

I work in painting, photography, digital imaging, and small sculptures.   Merging the media, the uncertainty of the hand and the specificity of the photograph, the evidence of the reality and the gesture.   I have been influenced mostly by the German Expressionists and neo-Expressionists, but I believe that every work of art that I see has an influence on me. I am also influenced by Buddhism, science, emotions, intelligence or the lack thereof, and everything I've read or experienced.

A great work of art suddenly drives us out of out mind.

All art that I love causes me to salivate.  I have no explanation for that, except that I want to eat it, which is funny, but which also suggests a desire to become one, to erase the duality between seer and seen.

My work is not meant for theorizing, I have not adopted a particular standpoint from which I make art, but I understand making and viewing art as a constant exploration of consciousness.
